Version Information:

The Translation of the Contemporary Language (TLA) is a direct translation from the biblical languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek); it is not an adaptation or paraphrase of any existing Spanish version. It is based on the two official versions of the United Bible Societies (UBS) used in all our translations worldwide: the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia and the fourth revised edition of the Greek New Testament.

For this translation, the translation principles established by the UBS have been followed, focusing on faithfully translating the meaning of the original text rather than isolated grammatical forms or words from the source text. The goal has been to convey the same message received by the original audiences of the biblical text. Therefore, appropriate guidelines have been established for this version both linguistically and literarily.

The paragraph has been taken as the basic unit of discourse. Special attention has been given to phrases that serve as transitions within the same paragraph and between all paragraphs that comprise the text. Thus, the narrative or story is structured in a way that causes precede effects, that previous information precedes new information. Attention has also been paid to the different roles characters play in the narrative. Consideration has been given to how one sentence ends and how the next one begins; how shifts occur between nouns and pronouns, what are deuterocanonical books of the bible catholic about, the distance between subject and predicate, the rhythm of grammatical constructions, and sound patterns of words and syllables.

The team of translators and reviewers consists of individuals from different Christian denominations, regions within the Spanish-speaking world, and various academic disciplines.
